RECEPTION NATIVITY SHOW

The nativity show this year was wonderful. The children loved the singing and acting. Performing on stage to a large audience of parents takes courage. Thank you parents/carers for coming to our play. This kind of extra curricular activity helps our children gain confidence and qualities that help them in later life. So much hard work went into rehersals, singing, scenery, costumes, production & direction. Thank you to all those who made it such a success. Most of all, well done to all the children!

Year 4 trip – Science museum

As part of our science topic on electricity, we visited the Science Museum so we can expand our learning and see models of the different types of electricity that we had been learning about in the past few weeks. We learnt about the safety of electricity. We considered the impact of the energy on environment and how we can change our lifestyle to save energy. It was interesting to see the link between energy and electricity, and it was exciting to play electricity games. Most importantly it was great to be able to explore in the Science Museum and experiment with the features in the museum.

– Now can you think of one thing that you would like to learn about electricity before we move on from this topic?

While we were at the Science Museum, we had a look at the next topic we are going to learn; which is states of matter. We looked at the differences between the 3 matters, observed the differences in the particles and saw the way the matters changed depending on the container they were in. It was good to see the displays and models in the museum before we start our topic as we will be able to relate it back to our experience.

– Can you remember the 3 matters that we looked at?

– Which matter is always around us in the air we breathe?

– What is one thing that you would like to learn about in this topic or you would like to experiment?

On Tuesday 24.11.2015 a group of 24 pupils from Year 6 visited the OMD in London as part of the Enabling Enterprise learning programme.

The OMD is one of the most forward thinking, creative, effective and innovative communications agencies in the UK. They have won numerous industry awards and clients currently include Walkers, Sony, Levi’s and many more organisations. Over the day pupils were challenged to work in teams and create their own business slogans and adverts. At the same time they got the chance to meet a range of volunteers from across the organisation and worked with them to improve their teamwork and communication skills, and gain a better understanding of the professional media world.

The children from John Perryn worked really well, came up with imaginative and original ideas and produced great work.
