John Perryn Primary have been developing their Textile linked skills this Term as part of Design and Technology curriculum. The whole school has been involved in creating a range of Christmas decorations which have been used to decorate the school for Christmas.

The youngest children  have learnt how to weave in a range of situations and Key Stage 1 children have made Christmas bunting , range of Christmas baubles  and stockings .

The Key Stage 2 children have worked together on a joint sewing venture – making Table runners and Advent calendars.

The children have risen to the challenge of Designing and working with range of fabrics, learning how to sew a range of stiches  and the importance of finishing techniques  to improve the standard of a finished product.

Other textile based work this term has included – “make , do and mend” a project that recycled old clothes into new ones linked with what children were studying – Life in wartime. Pupils have also been designing and making T-shirts using fabric paints.

Children have really enjoyed this creative topic.

John Perryn CHOIR – Christmas concert

John Perryn Choir continues to go from strength to strength.

It was an amazing experience for the children to perform for such a large audience. Their performance was particularly inspiring and should encourage everyone to keep practising.

Many thanks to the John Perryn community who came to the event. Special thanks also go to Miss Aggie, Miss Buckley and Mrs Gerer for their continued support and hard work on the choir’s behalf.

This delightful show was filled with slapstick comedy, magic, songs and student participation in true pantomime tradition. Totally EGGSCELLENT!

Year 6 OPDC London project – Our area is changing…

Year 6 students had the opportunity to participate in this amazing and life-changing project. They have designed different buildings and places with the guidance of four architects (Chris Oughton, Natasha Lee, Josh Cheetham and Daniela Magni). A big thank you to the facilitators for letting us participate in such an event that will have a massive impact on society.
